X Factor UK: Week 3

Tonight was club classics week on X Factor, and a few of the contestants suffered a tough week. With James Arthur rushed to hospital due to an anxiety attack, Jade Ellis being forced to rest her voice due to throat problems. Shy boy Jahmene Douglas had to face the press attention about his father beating up his mother. The pressure is getting to the contestants, but now they have to realize, that it really is the survival of the fittest.

Gary Barlow's act Chris Maloney was the first up, another week of cheese for the northerner with the big heart. He seems like a sweet lad but there is just a bit too much cheese and it is getting old. He might just go this week! He sang 'Trying to catch your heart,' it was the right song choice, but it just seemed really dated, and just not right for the competition. Tulisa said it was too cheesy, Nicole echoed those sentiments. Louis said he likes Chris but there is a little bit too much cheese. Gary Barlow said the public love him, and that he did a really good job tonight.
James Arthur

Next up were the only urban act in the competion, MK1. They did a mash up this week of club classic 'She's  Homeless' and 'Pass out' by Tinie Tempah. The judges were split on this one, and Tulisa said they should not have copied the Tinie Tempah rap. Gary said that they should not have done a mash up at all! Nicole said she loved the performance, and Louis, who is their mentor said he thought they did a great job. This was probably their best performance yet.

Jahmene, the sweet boy of the competition had a tough week this week. However, he pulled it out the bag with an Aretha classic track. He looked sharp, and he sounded good however, he does have a tendency to over sing the song sometimes. He did look a little nervous, but he pulled it off in the end. All the judges said he was amazing, he shed a little tear at the judges comments. Awww sweet sweet Jahmene.
Lucy Spraggan

Jade Ellis, the single mum from South London also had a tough week. She was forced to rest her voice for most of the week due to vocal problems. Her voice still had not healed and she managed to pull off a good performance of 'Free.' Thumbs up to her however, the judges said they were looking for just a little bit more from her. However, to be fair she was told to totally rest her voice!

James Arthur was another contestant who really had a tough week. However, he came back fighting!!! He was rushed to hospital following an anxiety attack after last weeks show. However, he pulled another great performance out the bag tonight. He did a soulful, bluesy version of LMFAO's 'I'm Sexy and I know it.' Gary said he gave the lyrics meaning, and all the other judges said they loved his performance. Stroke of genius, James Arthur is going to be the next UK music legend. Remember his lyrics, 'Live fast die a legend.' He is spot on!!!! Go James!!!
Jahmene Douglas

Union J, the other next big thing boyband to come out of the X Factor pulled out a mediocre performance. Nothing spine tingling. They sang 'When Love Takes Over' by Kelly Rowland and they did a good job. Gary Barlow said " We are witnessing the birth of a new boyband here." He also said they need to work on their harmonies, and Nicole said pretty much the same thing. They will be a massive boyband, whether or not they will reach the level of the mighty 1D, only time will tell.

Rylan Clark, when it comes to Rylan, you just have to shake your head. He cannot sing to save his life, but there is something about him that makes you just keep on watching. We are predicting a whole reality TV show starring Rylan! Go Rylan! He sang his own rendition of 'Dance the Night away (get on the floor)' Admittedly, the vocals were not really on point but the performance was flawless in terms of entertainment value. Bryan Freedman did a great job with the production of this!!! Was so so fab!!!!! Let's just see if he stays this week!

Lucy Spraggan sang her own rendition of 'Titanium' with her own verses. A very clever performance from the 21 year old. Probably her best live performance to date, the judges loved it! With Tulisa saying she is an amazing storyteller.

Ky Sones is probably the most forgettable act in the competition. Mentored by Gary Barlow, there is just something too boring about him. Dry is probably the best word to use to describe him however, tonight he did a good job. He played the piano and sang yet another ballad, but he did a good job. The staging was amazing, planted on top of a pile of industrial rubble. He did a much better job than last week, but he might be going this week. Tulisa and Nicole said he reminds them of Chris Martin, which is a major compliment for someone who stated that Chris Martin was a major influence.

District 3 pulled it out the back, with back flips and all they smashed it! Singing 'Begging.' They showed their personalities, had fun and wowed the audience with a great performance tonight! The judges said their performance was a revelation. Well done boys!!!

Ella Henderson ended the show with her rendition of 'You got the love.' She added some fun little dance moves to the performance, and Gary said the dance moves cheapen her act and that she should just stick to singing. This provoked a little argument between Gary and Tulisa, with Tulisa stressing that she is only 16 and  needs to have some fun. Gary said she was the Adele of the competition, and Louis predicted that she would be a global star in five years time.
