Brandy Tears Up as She Admits She Lied to Oprah

Ooooh now Brandy, you have some guts! Brandy recently admitted to Oprah that she had lied to her in the past. On an episode of "Where Are They Now?" on Own, Brandy admitted that back in 2002 she lied to her Oprah about being married. She was 6 months pregnant and at the time dating producer Robert Smith. Brandy admitted that they lied about getting secretly married to protect her career. 

Brandy became teary-eyed as she explained why she lied. She stated that at the time she was 23-years-old and she felt like she had to lie because she had just released her Full Moon album. She was scared that admitting the truth could actually damage her career. 

"Because at that time being pregnant out of wedlock was not a trend. It’s not something that people praised. It was a sin. I felt like I could not be honest about that. I felt the pressure of having to be perfect. I was scared. I thought that everything that I had worked hard for and everything that I worked to build, the image that I had worked so hard to build, was threatened. I felt like having a child out of wedlock would ruin my career and everything that I built. And I’m really sorry for that. I mean, you just don’t lie to Oprah!"

Well, we give you a pat on the back Brandy for coming clean. Because most celebs these days just wouldn't do that!
